I was hoping to start my blog by making plans to travel. But due to the update of the CDC and their current update. With the pandemic still looming and no natural end in sight. I decided to address safety and just what the Cruise-lines have been doing to prepare for the reopening of sailing. The last several months have been full of uncertainty and furloughs, layoffs, lost jobs, and working from home. Isolation and lack of interaction and activity. Those who travel and those who want to go. Are we spending those quiet moments dreaming of a beautiful beach? A cruise to your favorite destination. A luxury destination. We all have an idea or dream destination. For some, it is Alaska, others Europe. Some still want to see America. A condo in Hawaii. Write down your travel bucket list.
The CDC went a long time without addressing the Cruise Industry as some destinations and hotels are beginning to test the waters. The CDC has ignored the efforts made by the cruise lines in preparing to sail again. Most of the Cruise lines along with other travel such as Land tours. They have all done a great job preparing for post COVID trip. Protocols for fewer passengers, change of food delivery, and cleaning. For some reason, the CDC is holding out on the Cruise industry. Claiming they have spent a nearly impossible amount of hours on the Cruise industry. When in actuality, they have ignored. As with anything around the COVID, the inconsistency of some of the decisions doesn't make sense.
The CDC did announce the further extension of the Cruise travel band for North America to September 30, 2020. At the same time, I would like to be optimistic about that date becoming a reality. I look at the fact that it may be farther. So I look to alternatives where it can be safe. A few weeks ago, it was my Wedding Anniversary. So I booked us a Resort outing. Living in Utah, we chose St George in southern Utah. It was also Father's Day weekend. Sand Hollow Resort boasts a beautiful Golf Course ( we don't Golf), But we love the atmosphere. During the summer, they are also Hosting open-air Concerts—each weekend.
The setting was terrific. The lawn area was well suited for Social Distancing, and everyone was gracious. The daytime temperature was around 100, but the night breeze made the event very pleasant. If you don't play Golf, there are other things to do in the area—the dunes and trails. The reservoir was full of watercraft. There is a Restaurant at the Clubhouse, or if you get the room with the kitchen, you can prepare your meals. We go to Sand Hollow once a year. I was often renting 1 to 3 condos to enjoy the fun with the family: pools, bbq, and a beautiful property to enjoy.
There are some great destinations and trips that are currently available.
So, explore options for a safe vacation getaway. Short or long. Call me together. We can plan a great adventure.
